A community in Dedham, Massachusetts already feels much safer with the newest four-legged addition to the police force. A pup found herself surrounded by a loving team after being hired by the Dedham Police Department to serve as the community’s dog to help them solve cases and make victims feel secure.
The pup, however, had no name to begin with. But her first day on the job would soon fix that problem as she was assigned to visit a middle school in Dedham to get to know the folks she’d be serving.
Once the adorable pup stepped her paw into the school, the students and teachers went absolutely crazy at how cute she looked! They huddled over the pup and snapped photos with her. She was also named Ruby after a vote among the students.
Ruby probably didn’t mind all the attention she was receiving from the encounter because her goal was to make sure the community felt loved. By sharing the love with those around her, she was perfectly doing what her job required her to do.
Although Ruby is clearly getting the hang of her new job, she still has to be trained to enhance her police pup skills – especially in the treatment of victims of cases.
Although this new role of hers might take a toll on her, she can rest easy knowing that the community is always around to warmly welcome her into their arms. Burnout wouldn’t be much of a problem for the pup because she knows that people will be there to support her at every step of the way.
For Ruby, there is nothing more comforting than knowing that the community is safe from harm. The community knows her dedication and knows that she needs to be showered with lots of love every now and then.
