Sometimes it feels like dogs understand what we say. In reality, they are only reacting to familiar sounds they have been trained to respond to. After all, they don’t have a grasp of human vocabulary. However, the following story will make anyone question whether dogs truly understand their owners.
The dog owner named Mike talks to his dog in a different way. He doesn’t use the usual baby talk like other pet owners. Instead, he speaks the way he would speak to any person, complete and long sentences.
Mike’s dog, Buddy, would often tilt his head from side to side while listening. He can differentiate between being commanded from just being talked to. Furthermore, his reactions are precise and enthusiastic.
If Mike wants Buddy to get a ball, he wouldn’t just say “ball.” He would call the dog and politely ask him to give him a ball, which Buddy would gladly follow. If Mike mentions they’re going to Dairy Queen for ice cream, the dog will bark enthusiastically.
Buddy and Mike have an unbreakable and deep bond. Their level of understanding goes beyond training. Mike always takes his dog out for ice cream, and then they play catch. Mike is not ashamed to admit that he loves his dog like one of his sons.
Buddy is also very sweet towards Mike’s mother. There was a time they visited her when she had an accident, and the dog made sure to show affection. When the mother asked Buddy if he loved her, he immediately responded with a bark.
When Mike adopted Buddy in 2016, he felt like the dog already knew him. Their friendship revolved around one thing, and that was love. Mike believes that the more love he shows a dog, the more they become attuned with him. This is the reason why Buddy can understand everything he says.
