When a dog lives near a farm, it will likely form lasting friendships with farm animals. In this setting, it’s not strange to see a dog and a horse becoming best friends. The following story is an example of this dynamic being formed and cultivated.
Orian was two months old when his owner first allowed him to enter the stable. The owner wanted him to be comfortable around horses so she could bring him to work every day. One day that the little dog met the horse named Destiny.
The two animals became glued to each other ever since their first meeting. Orion and Destiny would hug each other whenever they could. The dog would prop himself up with his back legs and touch the horse’s face with his paws. When the dog gets tired, Destiny would then shower him with licks and kisses.
It doesn’t matter how far Destiny is in her pasture. If she sees Orion, she will run towards him and interact through the fence. Bonding is the first thing they do in the morning. They always act like they haven’t seen each other in years, even if only a day had passed.
After a long day of work, the owner would often take Orion and Destiny to hike. The dog would always lead the way but occasionally look back to check if the horse is keeping up.
The owner is always happy to see both animals act like siblings. Their lives are so intertwined that they often exchange the toys they play with. However, sometimes they don’t feel like sharing, especially regarding food.
Despite being smaller, Orion likes to play the role of protector. Whenever Destiny’s shoes are being changed, Orion would sit near her, making her feel safe. All the dog wants is for the horse to feel secure and happy.
