When Hope For Paws, the acclaimed charitable organization in Los Angeles, California, received a call about a homeless dog that lived under a parked van, two of its volunteers, Katie and JoAnn, quickly responded. They took note of the location and headed right away to save the dog. They agreed they needed to act promptly.
On-site, the ladies met the kind neighbor who made the call. They thanked her for keeping an eye on the dog and learned that she was an avid fan and supporter of their group. She made sure the pup was there when they arrived.
Katie sat on the ground and tossed cheeseburger biters toward the dog. She took her time befriending her. Later on, she encouraged her to walk toward her so she could take a close look.
The pup was curious but she was a bit nervous to get too close to the rescuer. She ate a little and then limped away. And so, they decided to follow her.
While the rescuers chased after the dog, they ran into the family that took care of her. They agreed to push her toward their enclosed yard and decided to capture her from inside. Surprisingly, one of the boys, Rene, showed up and he made the rescue mission a lot easier.
Rene was the one person the dog trusted. He showed her kindness since day one so she knew he wouldn’t hurt her. She was so happy to see him and she willingly went inside the yard as he lead the way.
JoAnn handed Rene the Lucky Leash and requested him to put it on the dog. Later on, Katie asked if he ever named the dog and he said it was Leslie. He and his family members took care of Leslie for more than a week but they couldn’t adopt her so they searched for help.
Leslie’s old fracture caused her so much discomfort. But after several surgeries, her leg completely healed. Thanks to Rene and his family, her rescuers JoAnn and Katie, and her foster mom Yagmur, who then became her forever mom, she found a whole new reason to start fresh.
