Just like humans, pets have feelings too. They also get bored and sad sometimes, especially if they get deprived of doing what they used to do. That was how Pop, a 3-year-old English Bulldog, felt when his owner, Rashida Ellis, and him resorted to staying at home to keep distance from other people.
One day, as Ellis was working from home, she saw Pop, whom she sometimes calls Big Poppa, looking out their apartment patio. Ellis heard him whine and saw how he sat down, dropping his head. The moment she saw Pop and his gestures, she realized that her furry friend was lonely. It was kind of expected as they haven’t gone outside for a while now due to the COVID-19 threat.
Ellis thought that it was a perfect opportunity for her to take a picture of Pop looking adorably sad. So, she grabbed her phone, captured the moment, and shared the photo with her friends. After taking snaps of him, she went by his side and gave him a rub.
When Ellis gazed at where Pop was looking, she saw children playing outside. She then recognized that these kids were the ones he used to play with before the two of them quarantined themselves at home. Also, she realized that he was waiting for the kids to see him, but they never did.
It was then the reason why Pop got sad. He never got any of the kids’ attention. More so, he felt even more miserable for watching his friends from afar, playing without him.
Now, to Ellis, Pop has a special place in her heart. Also, according to her, during quarantine, her closeness to her furry friend means a lot. Hence, she thought of expressing her love for his furry friend through sharing her adorable shots of him in her tweet.
Unexpectedly, the next morning, she woke up to the fact that her dog’s story went viral.
Big Poppa has been so sad today, I think he miss playing with the kids in the building. He just watches them from the patio pic.twitter.com/gVooqvZ5oI
