Jack, a nine-month-old American Bully, was ecstatic to have finally found a home.
The 30 lb. dog’s specific requirements made it difficult for him to find his ideal family. There was one adopter who wanted to adopt him but Jack was crushed when that person failed to show up on the day he was supposed to be taken home.
The Peaches Bully Rescue is an animal refuge in Ohio. Jack was reared by the shelter volunteers who provided him special attention due to his unique requirements.
The American Bully had spina bifida, a birth abnormality of the spinal cord. It brought difficulty for the dog to walk because both of his legs were facing outwards. Jack was also required to wear a diaper because he had incontinence. This was, unfortunately, permanent.
A family contacted the shelter inquiring about adopting Jack. The staff was overjoyed to learn that the puppy had found a forever home. Unfortunately, the prospective adopters never showed up.
The shelter shared Jack’s story on its social media sites after what had happened. Immediately after the story went viral, hundreds of individuals contacted them to help the puppy out. Around 600 individuals expressed interest in him, and 200 submitted adoption applications.
Dog lovers from around the world sent him gifts in an effort to cheer him up. Tons of food, diapers, and toys were sent to Jack by his adoring supporters. He appeared so thankful anytime he received something new.
It took the shelter some time to go through all of the submitted applications, but they made sure to find the ideal candidate before sending Jack away. The shelter was extremely appreciative of everyone who supported young Jack.
It was astounding to observe how Jack’s sadness opened so many opportunities. Even though he was a little different from other canines, he deserved a beautiful life just like any other dog out there.
