Nikki Carvey is well-known not only as the founder of Road Dogs & Rescue in Lomita, California but also for her dedication to the rescue of bulldog breeds. She specializes in medical dogs, older dogs, and puppies with special needs. These dogs would’ve never lived longer if it weren’t for her efforts.
Nikki, who is from the United Kingdom, recently came across the cutest puppy she’d ever seen. He looks a lot like Baby Yoda from the Star Wars series. His name is Mork, a rescued dog from the Chinese meat trade.
The meat trade is a brutal activity that allows China to kill 10 million dogs and 4 million cats per year. The majority of these animals are feral or stolen away from their family. While she is unsure of Mork’s exact breed, she assumes he is a part bulldog and at least part Yoda.
Nikki said that after seeing his pictures, she’d already decided to adopt him. But before she can save the puppy, she needs first to fly him from China to Los Angeles. Sadly, after arriving in the economy cabin on December 20, Mork was sent to the hospital for severe intestinal complications.
He has, luckily, recovered completely. Mork now weighs 11 pounds and is in good health, but he must adhere to a strict diet to prevent stomach problems. Owing to his debilitating bowel syndrome, the dog now has to eat cooked food and take some supplements.
Nikki claims Mork is a very expensive little guy to feed. She also thinks the Pitbull eats a lot more than she does. He is, however, still underweight and needs to eat four meals a day. Nevertheless, she still adores and loves the dog.
Carvey hopes that Mork’s story will inspire others to adopt rescue dogs. When the Pitbull is healthy enough, she wants him to become a therapy dog and visit nursing homes and hospitals.
