Oreo was a stray dog that had a little pup of her own. They were regularly seen in a strip of land that divided the freeway and a suburban neighborhood. Residents of that community were worried that the dogs might one day run to the busy road and get hurt. One particular family started feeding the two of them in hopes that they would stay on their side of the street.
Although they wanted to give them a good and safe place to stay, it was just not possible for them to adopt the two strays. They decided to do the next best thing, call a dog rescue organization and pray that they will find their forever family.
The Los Angeles family got in touch with a non-profit dog welfare group called Hope for Paws. Their founder, Eldad, drove to the area to conduct the rescue along with a lady named Loreta.
Rescued
When they arrived at the location, they saw that Oreo was sitting by the curb next to the house where the kind family was living. But her son was on the other side of the road. Eldad noticed that there was an opening on the fence next to the freeway and he feared that the pup might go there.
He immediately got out of his car and rushed towards the pup with a net in hand. When the puppy saw him, he tried to run away, but it was too late. Eldad had the net over him already.
The pup started wailing and this alerted Oreo. She then started running towards her pup. But once she saw that her puppy was caught, she then ran to the bushes and hid there.
To rescue Oreo, Eldad asked for the help of the kind family. The dog already trusts them so she would most likely come out of hiding if they called out to her. Sure enough, Oreo went to the family when she was called and they were able to put a leash around her neck.
Oreo, and her son, now named Cookie Monster, were brought to a vet where they were declared healthy. The two are now staying in a foster home and both are flourishing. They are enjoying life as foster pets and hopefully, they will get their forever family soon.
