Before Hurricane Ida even made its landfall and wreaked havoc over the southeastern part of the US, a Louisiana man named Harrison Sibley chose to be safe. So he quickly packed his bags and together with his dog, Bear, stayed with a friend who lived in Sevier County, Tennessee. But during their short stay there, something unfortunate happened.
One day while Harrison was out on a hike, his friends let Bear, a 10-year-old, three-legged German shepherd mix, out of the house where they were staying. And shortly after that, Bear took off and was gone.
Harrison went back to Tennessee multiple times over the next three months to find Bear. There was also a Facebook group created solely to help in spreading the word about Bear’s disappearance. The group members would then update each other about reports and compare notes. A few more months, Bear appeared on security cameras around Sevier County.
After the sightings were confirmed, a local named Jimi Holscher offered to help find Bear through his drone. He had actually never used his drone in searches like this but hearing about Bear’s disability touched him. So, he and Harrison devised a plan during one of Harrison’s trips to Tennessee.
Jimi first spotted Bear at around three in the morning and he followed the dog for about 25 minutes before losing him. And then Bear was again spotted and this time he was trapped by a local couple. Unfortunately, he quickly managed to escape and was spotted again several more times within just four miles where he was first captured.
When Harrison got back again in Tennessee, he and Jimi looked for Bear together, and luckily they managed to spot him. This was the first time Harrison saw Bear in six months and he called on him to come home but it took off running. He looked quite nervous but then he came back into the area several times over the next couple of days. After a few more visits, Bear was finally trapped.
Now, Bear and Harrison are finally reunited and Harrison is just so blessed to hold Bear in his arms again.
