Stray dogs are everywhere. They suffer hunger and sickness and endure any climate because of no shelter. Often, people drive them away and, in worse cases, hurt them. This is why they can’t easily trust even kind-hearted humans who only want good for them.
For years now, there have been groups of people who rescue stray dogs. The goal is to look for them in the pursuit of changing their lives for the better.
Dixie was one of the lucky stray dogs the group rescued. Dixie is a little brown dog who lived by the church for about three years.
A concerned citizen, Danny, thought of capturing Dixie to be fostered and cared for by someone capable. Danny went to the parking lot where Dixie stayed, trying to entice her with hotdogs and foods she convincingly loved. Despite his immense efforts to win her heart and trust, the dog seemed to be going further and further away as the day passed.
But Danny had great determination to get her. He returned to the same spot daily but to no avail; Dixie still would not let him go near. After days of trying, thankfully, Danny found a group to help him rescue Dixie.
The rescue group set up a trap with Dixie’s favorite treats to catch her. The trap had a camera to oversee and manage what had been happening in the area and whether Dixie would go for it.
The good news was Dixie did show up! And not only did she show up, but she also went into the trap, and finally, she was safe.
Dixie found a foster home that keeps her safe and cares for her. Her personality showed up, and she could be free again, running and playing around, not worrying about what might happen next. More than anything else, Danny and her rescue angels are thrilled to see her tail wag happily.
