Neighbors constantly heard the sound of a crying canine outside a big house in Pittsburgh. A concerned neighbor named Kori passed the house to see what was happening and saw a white dog on the third-floor roof.
Cries for help
Kori looked around the area and realized it was a vacant home. As he peeked through the windows, he noticed two other large dogs hiding inside the house. He felt worried for the trapped canines and decided to call the police.
Officer Christine Luffey, who used animal abuse cases, fled to the scene and met up with Kori. After a quick inspection, the officer put a notice sign on the door and headed in.
Once the officer was inside, she was appalled by the living situation of the abandoned canines. Most of the floor was covered in garbage and waste, with no clean water. Chewed-up dog food cans were present, indicating that the dogs were starving.
Stop the abuse
After the horrifying inspection, Officer Luffey called for backup and removed all the dogs from the house. The rescuers delivered the canines to the Humane Animal Rescue Facility in Pittsburgh, where they graciously received water, food, and immediate medical attention.
Officer Luffey recognized Kori for his phone call that led to the dog’s rescue. The dogs would have never been saved if it weren’t for him.
The police department started an investigation on the homeowners. Once found, they will get them to surrender ownership of the canines so that they get another chance at a new start.
The dogs have been through so much and deserve a family showing them the proper love and care. Officer Luffey and her team hoped the dogs would recover quickly and the responsible people would face the neglect charges.
