In the yard of a San Gabriel Valley residence house, a surveillance camera captured a woman’s epic encounter with a wild bear. In the footage, you can see a bear leisurely walking on top of a wall in a residential backyard in Bradbury. The family dogs quickly attacked the bears, and soon havoc unfolded.
The two cubs dashed under a tree to hide. On the other hand, the momma bear appeared to reach out a paw to one of the younger canines. After hearing the frenzied barking, a woman entered the scene, worried for her pets’ safety.
The moment Hailey Morinico saw the bear dragging her dog off the ground, she immediately panicked. She ran toward the bear and pushed it with all her might. She then swiftly picks up her other dog and runs away from danger.
The bear ungraciously fell off the fence. And then momentarily poked its head before finally leaving. Hailey was caught on camera going in the opposite direction with one puppy in her arm.
Luckily, no one had serious injuries. Bradbury is a small town in the foothills east of Los Angeles, close to the Angeles National Forest. In California, human and bear interactions are rare.
However, bears occasionally visit foothill towns and other places bordering wildness in quest of food. Experts even advise the public not to approach bears at all costs. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife also shares a list of bear encounter tips and basic guidelines that people can follow.
Black bears have coats that vary in color from tan, brown, and black. They are also known for their tiny, narrow skulls and short ears. Female bears can weigh up to 200 pounds, but males reach 350 pounds, and some giants can weigh around 600 pounds.
People can no longer see deadly grizzly bears in the wilderness of California. The last grizzly bear sighted in California was shot in the early 1920s.
