Countless stories have been shared and reported about dogs saving not only their families, their fellow animals, but strangers as well. But one story had made headlines recently about a dog that saved herself.
At first, it may seem like a very selfish act from an animal known to save anyone from danger selflessly. But it would only be selfish if this dog saved herself at the expense of others — which is not actually the case.
A lost Pitbull, which seemed to know that she was lost, has decided to ‘help herself’ by asking for the assistance of cops! Talk about a smart dog!
Lost in the streets of Walnut Creek, California, the Pitbull was fortunate enough to spot a parked patrol car and immediately ran towards it. No one will know if she knew that it was actually the car of the cops, but one thing is for sure, she ran to the right people.
The cops, especially Officer Akers, was surprised by the sudden appearance of the dog. He knew at that moment that the dog was not merely asking for some belly rubs and companionship; the Pitbull was actually asking for help. And the police officers have appreciated the dog’s bravery and intelligence; that is why they became determined not to let the canine down.
The police department posted the lost Pitbull’s photos and the situation on their Facebook page, hoping to find the family of this poor, homeless dog. Officer Akers wanted the Pitbull to be as safe as possible while they were searching for her family; that is why he brought the dog to the Contra Costa Animal Services. He knows that in that place, trained personnel can better take care of her and provide her with other needs.
Officer Akers knew that this Pitbull wasn’t a stray dog but a dog with a family because she is obviously well trained and has good manners! According to him, the Pitbull knows how to sit, stay, and lay down. Not only that, but the canine also knows how to express gratitude!
When they arrived at the animal shelter, the little dog never forgot to say ‘thank you’ to Officer Akers by giving him a Pitbull kiss before they parted their ways. The day ended on the happy side, but nothing will make everyone happier than to see this pitbull reunited again with her family.
The task of finding her owners was a bit challenging because she doesn’t have any collar that would show her identity and a microchip that could her owners track her. According to the animal shelter, if no one claims her for the next few weeks, they would put the Pitbull for adoption so she can finally have a permanent home. But whether she reunites with her real family or find a new one, everybody hopes that the lost Pitbull’s misfortunes would end up in a happy ending.
