Lassie, a famous fictional Rough Collie breed from the TV series of the same name, is a hero dog that saves her owners who are dying in the snow. In 2022, a German Shepherd named Tinsley, just like Lassie, helped save her owners, Cam Laundry and Justin Connors, after they got into a car accident.
The Lebanon Police Department was engaged in a low-speed dog chase on a highway along the state border after concerned onlookers from the vicinity reported Tinsley frantically wandering by the Veterans Memorial bridge. Eventually, the police followed the dog to a gap in the road’s guardrail, where they discovered vehicular wreckage and the two gentlemen ejected from the vehicle and suffering from hypothermia. The police immediately called Emergency Services to rescue the victims.
Upon investigation, the police confirmed that the truck appeared to have fallen from the barrier into the forest. It was lucky that Tinsley could lead the police to the area and help the two men.
Mr. Laundry and Mr. Connors shared that they, with their Tinsley and Connor’s pet bulldog, were on their way home from dinner before the accident occurred. Laundry failed to wear his seatbelt and also admitted that he was under the influence of alcohol. Unfortunately, Connor’s bulldog was hit by a car and found dead on the roadside after the accident. On the other hand, Tinsley somehow managed to get out of the truck and ask for help, which was crucial in saving both Mr. Laundry and Mr. Connors, given the unfortunate location of the accident.
According to Phillip Roberts, the Police Chief of Lebanon Police, he witnessed similar behaviors in police-trained dogs but never from a household pet like Tinsley. Mr. Laundry is grateful for his dog, whom he calls his guardian angel.
