We should always consider ourselves to be lucky that doggos have befriended us among all the creatures that walk this planet. However, if you truly look at our relationship with our fur babies, they are also lucky to have us. We have given them a home, food, and companionship. From time to time, we rescue their lives, too, just like how they rescue us.
The man in the clip below is a perfect example of how we, humans, are also willing to actually put our lives at risk to save theirs. The most touching fact about this story is that the dog doesn’t even belong to his rescuer. This heroic man was just kind-hearted, and he wouldn’t just stand idly.
The poor pooch in this photo is Scamp. He tried to follow his human who was making his way across this watery causeway. Unfortunately, while the pupper was crossing, he got swept away by the strong currents. This dam somewhere in South Africa overflowed, which is always a dangerous situation.
Scamp had to battle the strong currents that were pushing him against the rocks in the river. Luckily, he managed to make it up on one of them. However, Scamp wasn’t safe yet as he is now stuck in the middle of a raging river. James Stewart saw what happened to the poor pup and wanted to help.
James ran back to his home to get a rope. However, the 65-year-old knew that he couldn’t handle the strong currents. He scanned the area and found Amos Ndlovu, a gardener cutting the grass nearby. Amos agreed to help and wrapped the rope around his waist while his colleague held the other end.
Amos took his time because he knew that if he slipped, he could be swept away by the river, too. When he got to Scamp, the pooch was so scared, that he didn’t even move. Amos then carried the pupper back to the ledge where he came from. Scamp was traumatized by the experience, but safe, nonetheless. All thanks to Amos and James.
