It was coincidence that brought together a woman and her rescue dog.
Prue Barber, the founder of Mission Paws’ible, was right on her way home when she had spotted an abandoned, elderly dog. He appeared indifferent, as if he had lost the will to live. The dog suffered from severe mange and lost the majority of his fur. He appeared to have very little time left to live.
Prue was unable to disregard the dog. She followed her impulse and attempted to save the dog. She would consider the repercussions later.
The woman gave him the name Henry immediately. She was able to easily attach a leash to Henry and used a can of tuna to get him to enter the car.
Prue hypothesized that Henry formerly belonged to someone. He knew how to sit comfortably in the car’s rear seat, and he trusted humans without hesitation. She may never learn Henry’s past, but she was determined to give him a brighter future.
Henry’s recuperation began with a trip to the veterinarian. Thankfully, his illness was not so grave that he was discharged immediately. The veterinarian provided instructions and medications so he could continue to recover at home.
Henry recovered rapidly under Prue’s care and affection. He cherished his cozy bed, massages, and baths. Prue ensured that he had a nutritious diet and frequent outdoor walks.
Henry’s fur returned. His cheerful disposition was especially evident around Sadie, another rescue dog. They got along wonderfully and became the best of friends.
Prue had learned to appreciate Henry’s kind spirit. Because she did not wish to break his heart again, she chose to adopt him. Henry knew he was at home as soon as he entered Prue’s home and took a spot in her bed.
Prue was prohibited from fostering dogs from her own group due to her inability to let them go. When she fosters dogs, she ultimately adopts them. She had excellent intentions, but she may have overdone it.
