We are all very aware of how dogs always want to be with their humans. And when they are left alone, dogs tend to become lonely, which explains why they are so happy when their owners return. The latter behavior, despite it being a sweet one, may be an indication of separation anxiety.
When his mother, Lee, would leave him alone in the house, Horlicks would curl up. Eventually, it was found out that he suffers from separation anxiety because he behaves poorly when left alone. To assist him in overcoming his separation anxiety, Lee decided that he should have a brother to play with.
On Horlick’s 5th birthday, Lee decided to adopt a kitten named Hero. Horlicks was thrilled to get a new sibling and couldn’t wait to play with him.
At first, Hero was somewhat skeptical of his dog brother. He had never met a dog before and was apprehensive whenever Horlicks approached him.
However, Horlicks was both incredibly patient and persistent with Hero. When Hero recognized that Horlicks posed no threat, he began to develop a strong relationship with him. Horlicks and Hero soon became best friends and they were quite inseparable as time passed.
Horlicks and Hero would accompany their mother on walks or spend the entire day cuddling on the couch. Horlicks no longer feels lonely whenever his mother leaves the house because of Hero, who he now has a companion.
Lee left the two dogs alone in the house to find out if Horlicks had overcome his separation phobia. When she returned, she found Horlicks cuddling with Hero on the couch. Thanks to Hero, Horlicks no longer feels alone.
Lee made the correct choice in adopting Hero to help with Horlicks’ separation anxiety. Now, Hero initiates play and would even attempt to rouse a sleeping Horlicks in order to start playtime.
