After hearing a dog howl, a man in Denison, Texas began searching and found a neighbor’s husky drowning in their backyard pool. The dog looked pitiful while it struggled to keep its head above water. The man immediately took action and came to its rescue.
The man, together with his wife, quickly ran to the neighbor’s house. Although the homeowner was not present, they communicated with her using her Ring doorbell. The couple calmly explained the situation.
After they received permission from the owner, they immediately rushed to the pool area to save the husky. Luckily, the couple arrived before it was too late. Dogs can be incredibly loyal and loving to their owners.
They are usually affectionate, unselfish creatures that put the needs of their owners before their own. Nonetheless, it doesn’t mean that you should neglect them and leave them on their own. Dogs can develop arthritis and hip dysplasia if they’re forced to swim for a long time.
And even if your dog loves swimming, it’s best to limit his time in the water to ten minutes or less. There are other risks associated with dogs who spend too much time in the water. Dogs that become exhausted from swimming can experience hypothermia and drown just like humans do.
Larger dogs are also more prone to these problems than smaller ones. They can also develop stomach problems if they accidentally swallow too much water while paddling around. So make sure you’re watching your pet in the water and make sure it doesn’t gulp down too many mouthfuls of lake or seawater.
That is why pet owners need to closely monitor their dogs when they are near bodies of water. This incident should really serve as a warning to owners to always keep a close eye on their pets near bodies of water.
