As dog owners, we all love taking selfies with our dogs. We’re proud of our dogs and it’s only natural that we share their photos with the world. It’s very much like being parents who are proud of their kids.
A Dallas police officer named Andre Cloyd works with a dog as his partner. His K9 partner, Zigi, is an amazing dog and is great at doing his job. When Officers Cloyd and Zigi were assigned at Dallas Love Field Airport, Officer Cloyd decided that it’s the perfect time to take selfies with his partner. It wasn’t busy that time and they were both on a break.
However, Officer Cloyd didn’t know that his actions inspired a passerby named Gina Anzaldua to take photos of him taking selfies with his service K9. Gina thought that it was too adorable to let it pass and to not share it with the rest of the world. While Officer Cloyd was doing adorable poses with Zigi, Gina started to take photos.
At first, Gina thought that Zigi was a pet. She later learned that the 3 1/2-year-old German Shepherd was actually a K9 Officer and is partnered with Officer Cloyd. Gina shared the photos on her social media account not knowing that it would be an instant hit to everyone who saw it.
Eventually, the photo Gina took reached Officer Cloyd and he was pleasantly surprised by all the positive responses from people. The photo was viewed and shared thousands of times. Cloyd explained that he’s the only one in his family that lived in North Texas and they keep in touch by sending texts and photos of each other.
When Cloyd’s mom sent a text wishing him to have a good morning, Cloyd replied with the now-famous selfie with his partner, Zigi. Cloyd refers to Zigi and his other dog, Bentley, as his kids. He’s a self-proclaimed animal lover, which made him the perfect fit for the K9 Unit at the Dallas Police Department. Here’s a video featuring Cloyd’s selfies with Zigi and you will all agree that it’s adorable.
