Villalobos Rescue Center is a nonprofit animal rescue organization run by a woman named Tia Maria Torres. Tia and her family are known for rescuing mostly pit bulls and was featured in an Animal Planet series called Pit Bulls & Parolees. The dog rescue work they do have garnered the attention and support of so many people, and they still continue to save dogs from abusive and neglectful situations.
One of the most memorable rescues that Tia and her team did was with 38 dogs living in horrific conditions in a backyard. When Tia and her team entered the property to rescue the dogs, they couldn’t believe that the dogs were still alive. It was a massive job for Tia and her team, and they were all emotional after seeing how the dogs lived.
When Tia walked through the gate leading to the year where the dogs were chained, the first thing that she thought was how the dogs were still alive. Just a week before the rescue job, there was a massive snowstorm, and just a couple of days before it became only 13 degrees. Despite being poorly treated, all the dogs were so happy to see the rescuers.
Every dog was wagging its tail, wanting to greet the rescuers and give them puppy kisses. For Tia and her team, it was what made it so sad. Tia tried to be strong, but she was utterly overwhelmed by the situation and broke down and cried. One dog couldn’t even stand up and had to be carried to the rescue vehicle.
Tia and her team had to use all the resources they have to rescue all the dogs. They were loading as many dogs as they can that can fit inside their vehicles. They were all wondering how they could handle all 38 dogs since they don’t have 38 kennels available or even open spots.
After taking all the dogs back to their facility, they started assessing the dogs for their behavior and their overall health. Tia stated that taking in 38 dogs were like taking in a whole rescue organization. Thankfully, some of the dogs were dog-friendly and was able to get along with other dogs.
Tia and her team were able to find fosters for some of the dogs, and they also took in some of the dogs in their rescue shelter. As stressful and emotionally draining the rescue operation was for 38 dogs, Tia and her team were glad that they were able to get all the dogs out of the horrific conditions that they were living in. Here’s an emotional video showing how Tia and her team managed to rescue 38 dogs in a single day.
